Hello boating freinds. Quick question. I was leaving at Sampsons harbour today and noticed a large ship about to come in, but it was far out. I had my radio on, but no mention of any incoming vessels, or instructions. On going out of the harbour mouth I went passed the pilot who came running out and told me off, basically shouted at me asking of I had seen the ship. He also asked if I had seen the red light at the harbour entrance. I didnt! Now, my question is first, where is this red light? And second is the rules in at Sampsons not the same as at peter port where a vessel under 15m allowed to go in or out of the harbour as long as it doesnt hinder the other vessel. I apologised to the pilot anyway and stayed well clear of the larger ship. Just want to know for future to avoid pissing anyone off.
