Hello everyone. Ive been reading all kinds of posts here in Facebook lately. Posts about breakups, arguments with their lovers, arguments with friends, posts about worries due to the super typhoon, problems with finance and war between people. Let me share something I learned today. IT IS THE 90/10 PRINCIPLE by Stephen Covey. What is this principle? Simply it tells us that 10% of what happens to us is caused by uncontrollable things; the other 90% of what happens to us is caused by HOW WE REACT. (Sa bisaya pa, 10% na nahitabo kanato tungud sa mga butang na di natu makontrol, og ang 90% na nahitabo nato tungud kay kung giunsa natu pag-react sa usa ka sitwasyon.) Let me give an example : You are having dinner with your lover and with your friends. Suddenly your friend spills a glass of soda over your pure white top. You got angry and you had an argument with that friend. You walked out of dinner, went to the washroom to fix yourself. When you got back , your friend left which leave you, your lover and some of your friends around the table. Then, you get an argument with your lover for being rude and acting immature. After that, your other friends decided to go somewhere else instead , giving time to fix you and your partners argument. Your partner then walks out and you are left alone. Angry, you decided to go home alone and call it a ruined day. (This is what usually happens). Now, let us apply the 90/10 principle: You are having dinner with your lover and with your friends. Suddenly your friend spills a glass of soda over your pure white top. You said Its okay. Just be careful next time.. You went to the washroom to fix yourself. When you got back, you continued having dinner and after which , everybody including you went out for a nice talk over drinks at a bar. Does it make a difference? Lesson is,negative things will happen, but it does not mean that it will ruin your day. . . because if you think about it, most problems are self-made. So the next time something or someone gives you a pain in the neck, take a deep breath , smile and think before you act. Do something your future self will thank you for. #ChangeOfShiftLaer #TheTyphoonIsUncontrollableButIWillDoTheStephenCoveyPrinciple #GoodNight
