Here are a few of the things Facebooks Messenger app requires permission to do on your phone or tablet (without even notifying you): * Find accounts on your device * Read your contacts * Know your location at all times by GPS * EDIT YOUR TEXT MESSAGES (not your FB messages, your TEXT messages) * Read your texts (again, your TEXT messages) * SEND TEXT MESSAGES AS YOU * Read your call log * CALL YOUR CONTACTS FROM YOUR PHONE NUMBER * Modify or DELETE the contents on your device * Take pictures and video with your camera * Record your Device ID & call information * UPLOAD AND DOWNLOAD FILES AS YOU * Run at startup * View network connections * Change your audio settings * Overwrite other apps * Change network connectivity * PREVENT YOUR DEVICE FROM SLEEPING Considering FB sees all data it collects as its own, and they have an agreement with multiple governments to share their (MY) data with them (even without a warrant), if you download this app you are essentially giving up your right to due process and unreasonable search and seizure. Simply put, they must be out of their minds if they think Im going to download it.
