Here is my long rant for the evening: After watching a video today of a person who has a lot of subscribers on Youtube walking up to unsuspecting girls on the street and touching them inappropriately without their permission (and calling it a prank), Ive been doing a lot of thinking. I wont link the video because this idiot does not deserve the views which could actually translate into a profit for him. Here are my thoughts: #1. Guys AND girls: It is never okay to touch someone inappropriately (or at all) without their permission. I dont care how well you know them. If they seem at all uncomfortable with it, even if they dont actually say no, knock it off. Golden rule: treat others the way you want to be treated. Dont make someone uncomfortable because you know you wouldnt want the same thing done to you. More important, #2. To all of my friends, I pray that you have the courage and self-respect to stand up for yourself in this kind of situation. Do not let anyone take advantage of you like this. The girls in this video all kind of shrugged it off, but were obviously uncomfortable. Please stand up for yourself. If you are uncomfortable please make sure the person knows. I dont want to promote violence, but in this situation I would have smacked this guy and made sure he realized how ignorant he was. Make sure they know it is NOT OKAY to invade someones personal space like that. YOUR body is YOURS only. Definitely not a strangers, not your friends, not your familys, not even a significant others. Please dont let anyone make you uncomfortable, and dont let anyone think its okay to do so. Finally, if anything like this happens to you please reach out and tell someone. I dont care who you are, you can tell me and I will do what I can to help you. Take control of your body and your life.
