Here is my platform everyone! Views: As UAB continues to flourish, so should the students who represent. With the recent construction sites occurring around UAB, it is a crucial time to advocate for up-to-date facilities and renovations which can help represent OUR student body. I stand to enrich the lives of our students by increasing student life involvement, off and on campus, and by maximizing the growth of UAB Dining in the right direction. As an advocate, I would also like to offer a tangible plan that will shift change and improvement towards the individual needs of all students. The University of Alabama at Birmingham is a fast-paced growing society in one of the most developed cities of Alabama. If the voices of our students are not heard, it is our duty to come together and change it for ourselves. As your student advocate, I hope to be your voice today, your voice tomorrow. Initiatives: Athletics 1. Increase student support at athletic events by developing more publicizing options. 2. Implementation of travel services by UAB to all games at home and on away campuses. 3. Student Life tents at UAB athletic events offering promotions to the game and publicity. USGA 1. If elected student advocate, my number one priority will be increasing effective communication between the administration and student body. 2. This shall be done by publicly recognizing every school’s Senators in their respective buildings with the use of framed pictures. 3. Allow students to personally talk to anyone on USGA by scheduling an appointment. Student Housing 1. Advocate for a Greek Row, which will promote Greek Unity, and clear up high demand spots in on-campus housing. Dining 1. Affordable prices for students not on meal plans. 2. Small student market allowing students to attain the most essential necessities included in the new student center. 3. Increase the health rating of Commons on Green 4. More vegetarian options 5. Advocate bringing back the take out option at the Commons on the Green. UAB Honors College 1. Updated honors space in new student center. 2. Expansion of all honors students curriculum. 3. Promote Honors College Unity through educational and competitive events. Academics Library 1. Advocate for updated study rooms 2. Include a charging station with chargers available Campbell Hall 1. Updated labs in Campbell Hall Chemistry Annex 1. Update classrooms Set a time limit for professors to post grades on blackboard. Parking 1. Implement the use of Blazer Express signs and promote for more frequent stops. 2. Pave the lot beside WOW to add extra parking. Faculty and Student Interaction 1. I believe that a barrier exist between most students and the faculty at UAB. This will help students come out of their comfort zone and approach faculty with any questions and concerns. 2. Implement a talent show in which faculty and students can both perform. 3. Implement a faculty vs. students basketball game. Thank You for taking the time to read my platform!
