Here is my rant for the day. although raising minimum wage sounds appealing to the minimum wage worker, it is crippling our economy and lowering the value of our dollar. it has started a vicious cycle. Look at it this way. If you own a business, and you currently charge $3 for a gallon of milk, if the government forces you to increase the pay rate of your employees, how are you going to adjust your profit margin?? you are going to raise the cost of the milk. We often forget as a country that a person making minimum wage is NOT supposed to be financially comfortable. Minimum wage was designed to be an incentive to our youth to finish school, go to college, and learn a trade that will benefit mankind. In todays society, with the wage increase, and the irresponsible distribution of welfare, it is teaching our youth that is is OK to quit school, have babies, and contribute nothing to society.
