Here is the latest update on Johnny Hale from his daughter, Joanna Hale Reid: Well, I dont even know what to say. We moved to Roanoke Memorial due to the possible need for surgery. This morning we are told it is probably not the best idea - if we get to that point. More swelling over night but then today he was very cognizant of things asked of him, worked with the OT, was quite the smart alec that he always is... gave us a good time. Still not out of the woods but gave up a little hope today. You gotta love his humor... as he is sitting on the side of the bed with the OT and starts to lean over like he is starting to fall, he says Timmmberrrr. I told him he couldnt have anything to drink because of his throat, so he opened his eyes, looked at Annalee, pointed at her and said, Annalee, go get me a cup of coffee! Too funny. Getting meds for brain swelling and for blood clot tonight. Prayers still needed. Lets get through these next few critical days and well all be okay. MANY thanks to Christina Hill Pearman for Chocolate covered strawberries to the rescue when chocolate was needed... to Jackie for feeding the whole herd today... for Drea and Corey for running out and getting food at least twice if not three times - and buying at least once or twice... for Drea and Corey taking the girls out and getting them an outfit and having them over for a nice break.... for Lynda and Mary for grabbing and kids and getting here for us, for being bossy enough to tell the nurses things when I was too tired... for all the friends and family calling, hitting like on FB, texts, emails, prayers, EVERYTHING... and for anyone or anything I have left off - so sorry, it is overwhelming and exhausting. But I have appreciated everything truly - we could not be getting through all of this without every one of you and every one of your prayers. Dad hears about every person that says anything... he knows who is asking and praying... so thank you again.
