Here some truth on things as I see it. We are all taught on false history growing up. No matter your race or color. You were lied to about your history. For me i was told and read in books that I was a savage. A pagan because I was not a child of god. I heard my grandparents talk in a language i knew nothing about. Seen ceremonies I knew nothing about. I knew no history of the lakota/dakota/nakota nations. My grandpa would tell me about how proud people we were and we are warriors. Then going to school and being told different because of my ethnicity. Being called everything in the book negative about being native. Fighting with kids and being chased home because of my ethnic background. My grandfather and dad explained that one day youll see the clearer picture. Until then you need to educate yourself. History I loved especially our lakota/dakota/nakota history. Then I saw the clearer picture of how societys work. How every indigenous nation had their own history. Their own battles that left some nations decimated almost to extinction. Yet every indigenous nation had their own beliefs and traditions. They fought for their beliefs and people. Today in this modern day society we were taught differently and if we went back to our own ways of life. We were in wrong for doing that and belittled for it. The traumatic history done to each indigenous nation has been a focal point throughout history. This history we learned has made every indigenous nation forget who they truly are as people. So basically a loss of identity within these indigenous nations. So the identity they choose is to be accepted by the very people who rewrote our history. Made us ashamed of who we are as indigenous people. So our youth have a loss of identity. A native wanting to be white, a white wanting to be native, a black wanting to be white, etc etc..... All this to be accepted in a world lost in its own confusion. Lies to cover truth of peoples history. Look how people think of Columbus and his new world. Well this world already had people with history. The many massacres that lead to this nations history that were considered victories. The oppression of every indigenous nation that lead to the belief in their oppressors. I could go on more but ill stop there. Throughout history idealists thrived for peace but in the end history is violent!
