Here watching the News with my Puerto Rican husband. I am a mom of 2 Black men but I raised them as humans like my father raised me. I did know I was black but I went to school with white , black , jewish, greek, and many others but never felt "Black" or different. I was never called black until I was a grown woman. As we started to live in different parts of the US , I started to see a trend that my sons may need to know that they are "Black".And that is when the training started. Ensuring i knew who they were with, ensuring they knew what to do in a situation, curfews upheld and the curriculum just grew as they became older. I am sorry that Trayvon mom can not see him graduate, snuggle with him, just see him . I am sorry that I did not get the notes to her so she could have coached him for this world. Unfortunately we all are differnent and held to a different standard. Teach them that not all people luv their uniqueness . Teach them tolerance for the ignorance in this world. Teach Talk Tell .
