Heres a timely reminder to keep your wits about you people ... I just received a call from Access (didnt catch the name) who said they were calling on behalf of Telstra. I was asked to confirm my date of birth and address for security purposes which I did. They went onto to ask if I had been receiving correspondence about an outstanding account from October last year for 500 odd dollars. I replied that I dont have a Telstra account. My phone does however belong to a business account and that I would seek the advice of my parents (who own the business) .... I was then put on hold .... indefinately .... Suspicious, I called Telstra and they confirmed that it was common practice for scammers to get credit card details this way. ARGH!!! Im blessed that I have a healthy ammount of skepticism in my blood but are saddenned that many would easily fall for this scam. Please warn your friends and family... NEVER EVER GIVE OUT YOUR CREDIT CARD DETAILS OVER THE PHONE FOR ANY REASON!!! rant over.
