Heres an idea in these days of Common Core, standardized everything and spoon fed curriculum. How about someone opening a charter called That 70s High School? You know, a place where divergent thought was inspired and people were able to be themselves and learn from other people with specific subject area knowledge and life experience in a way that made teachers, maestros and students, caring human beings in training. The school uniform could be a tie-dyed shirt and bell bottom jeans and you could wear converse All-Stars or platforms or Jesus sandals. Or not!Jean jackets and pooka shell necklaces, mizpah bracelets/necklaces, mood rings/bracelets and rainbow suspenders (nanu nanu!!) would all be encouraged! Most importantly, free thought, social awareness, love and just a certain amount of common sense would be the Common Core! Getting to be a teenager who is loved and whose thoughts on life were listened to and respected and returned that respect by not cursing at or even around your teachers would be Standardized. And the curriculum was to be determined in each the classroom. Can you imagine Aristotle or Plato justifying everything they ever did via the Danielson framework??
