Heres how the trial for guardianship in my grandpas case turned - TopicsExpress

Heres how the trial for guardianship in my grandpas case turned out this Monday and Tuesday: all this time I have worked tirelessly to protect my grandpa from his abuser. I went through 2 attorneys and hired 3 different attorneys for my father, etc. At the end of the day, on Tuesday, testimony was given and the judge said she believed the credibility of the witness and agreed that my grandpa needs to be protected from the abuser. As a result the abuser who was previously restricted from having visitation is now allowed to have access to my grandpa under supervised visitation. I just cannot understand how someone who commits an act of elder abuse and admitted to violating the courts orders completely avoided prosecution or any punishment and instead was rewarded with regaining access to the victim, but now at the victims expense: my grandpa! The guardianship statute in Illinois was specifically enacted to protect the elderly and disabled persons from neglect, abuse, and financial exploitation. The reality, however is left up to public opinion. My next step is to save up enough money to buy the court transcripts and file a complaint with the Judicial Inquiry Board. In the meantime, Mike Nerheim is Lake County States Attorney continues to offer his assistance by helping me get in contact with someone from the Illinois Attorney Generals Office. And, also, Representative Robert Pritchard and I are working to propose legislation that will prevent others from becoming victimized by the court system and provide citizens with a remedy to assert their rights and ensure justice is done!
