Heres my UNofficial comments, in advance, regarding Hampton Bay - TopicsExpress

Heres my UNofficial comments, in advance, regarding Hampton Bay Days and the Entertainment lineup. This way I only have to say it once... There is an argument to be made regarding a theory about national acts bringing in more attendance. Baydays is a fundraising event to raise awareness and preservation of the Chesapeake Bay, not specifically a music festival or showcase. Hampton Baydays won several major awards for the 2013 festival, being named Best Regional Outdoor Festival, among many, and which did not feature (expensive, very expensive) national acts and yet still drew capacity crowds ( downtown can only fit so many cars and people, and national acts dont provide extra parking or crowd space) and the other revenue generating aspects of the event did not suffer from the absence of ( very expensive) national acts. Since BayDays doesnt charge admission, the revenue from the other sources, (some of which went away with the economic situation being what it is,) which went to pay for those Very Expensive National acts, can actually go towards where it is needed. By showcasing a selection of the many great area performers in the timeslots when the crowds are the largest, there is an opportunity to also introduce some new musical acts, young up and coming bands, as well as area veterans. As always, the most difficult part of the process is choosing. There are only so many available slots, and much less of a budget than ever before to use to pay them and the production costs. One of the great things about BayDays is it is a longstanding and ongoing traditional event, and there is always next year. And its a proven fact you cant please everyone, ever. I think the fact that the volunteers try, is worth something. Hope you take the the opportunity to spend some time outside with the family and enjoy the FREE entertainment we have assembled for you!
