Heres the Process A) Awareness. Your perception of what is happening (what you thought you experienced). B) Beliefs. Your thoughts and attitudes (what you tell yourself about the awareness). C) Consequences. Your feelings and behaviors based on your beliefs (how you react). Most people don’t explore their process. They feel something and just react to it. Emotional intelligence means taking the event or situation through this process, and knowing you have control. Many skip B. What we tell ourselves about our experience will determine how much anxiety is created. This is where many internalize and reinforce false beliefs about themselves. When shit happens, walk yourself through this process and be aware of what you tell yourself. People think they can’t control their feelings. They can. Your thoughts and what you tell yourself will determine how you feel. So if you change your thoughts / what you tell yourself, you can change how you feel. Like a muscle, this requires exercise. The more you do it, the stronger you will be. And the better you will be able to manage what comes at you. Life’s challenges will not stop. The only thing you can control is how you cope with them. - Angry
