Heres what pisses me off. Yesterday at the commonwealth games, the head athletics coach made a statement aimed at team co-captain Sally Pearson, basically calling her a bad example to the team by doing a diamond league meet and missing a few days of the commonwealth games. The coach is within his rights to make the statement (although he will be fired for it) and this comment and its repercussions could easily be dealt with internally. However the channel 10 media team decided to call it a scandal, talk about it for 40 minutes straight instead of showing any live sport, and when the hosts were out of their own opinions (which has nothing to do with the outcome) they invited on not 1, not 2, but 4 special guests to add their input. They kept saying its terrible because his actions could affect Sallys performance, I say NO!! The medias actions, by blowing it up as a big story the day before her first race will be to blame if her nerves are affected. Its only a huge scandal if the media turns it into one. So disappointing, I expect it from US broadcasters, just not Australians.
