Hi Bushwhackers! This Saturday, March 15th I’ll be climbing up Mailbox peak. If you would like to join me Please email me so I can get a head count. I’ll be at the trailhead at 9am. I would recommend bringing clothing for the elements, snow shoes, and micro spike for the top. If you don’t have micro spikes, crampons would be ok. Currently avalanche conditions are considerable near treeline and above. Depending on what the conditions are on Saturday will determine weather or not we check the mail at the top. For those who will be going, I’ll provide you with an avalanche forecast before we head out. If the forecast is considerable too extreme we will not be going to the top and will turn around on the upper third of the mountain. Weather forecast for Saturday: 50% chance of rain…Good times NWAC’s Bottom Line is: Increasing avalanche danger from wet snow is expected Wednesday, especially during the late morning and afternoon on steeper slopes receiving direct sun.
