Hi Facebook Friends We are very excited to have five teams representing Crema Espresso in “The Kokoda Challenge 2014” one of the toughest and most self-rewarding team events in Australia. There is a good reason behind this distance and time - 96 km is the length of the actual Kokoda Track in Papua New Guinea and the 39 hour time limit is in honour of the 39th Militia, the first Australian troops to set foot on the Kokoda Track. Participants (with the help of their support crew) trek a 96 km course that leads along fire trails, crosses 12 creeks and summits 5,000 m of vertical elevation. The goal is to finish as a complete team of four in honour of the spirit forged on the Kokoda Track in 1942: courage, endurance, mateship and sacrifice. In addition to the physical challenge of the trekking event itself, our teams have taken up the challenge of raising funds for the Kokoda Challenge Youth Program (KCYP) by seeking sponsorship and support. All funds raised go to The Kokoda youth programs, supporting young troubled people in our own backyards. Our teams have dedicated many hours of training, trail running, hiking & climbing some massive mountains, through the Gold Coast’s beautiful hinterland. The journey so far has been difficult and exhilarating all at the same time, and now they can’t wait to start this life changing challenge with their team mates tomorrow. If you would like to show your support for our teams why not join us at the start line tomorrow at Firth Park Sporting Complex, Somerset Drive, Mudgeeraba for a 7am start. Or if you would prefer to come along and see our teams cross the finish line, they will arrive into Nerang Velodrome anywhere between 12am and 10am on Sunday morning. You can also track our teams on your iPads or phones to know approximately when they will reach the finish line which will be between Scout Hut & Nerang Velodrome building (Hope Street, Nerang) If you would like to track us live you can through KML tracks, all you need to do is click on this link kmltracks/kokodachallenge and you can watch as a virtual spectator! Our Teams are Crema Espresso: Alpha KC147, Bravo KC150, Charlie KC166, Delta KC137 Echo KC144 COURAGE | ENDURANCE | MATESHIP | SACRIFICE
