Hi! I had posted this last night but I cant find it any where so I guess it got lost? I am looking for opinions on one of my 3 dogs recent behaviour change. She is a 4 year old SF border collie mix that I have had over 3 years. She has always gone to off leash parks and gotten plenty of exercise. She is run every day, whether it is on-leash with me, at the park, or at the river. For about 2-3 weeks now I have noticed a major change in her behaviour towards other dogs, particularly at the offleash park. She has always been a mellower dog, a little timid and loves to play chase. She is skiddish around dogs who wrestle or play loudly, she will avoid dogs like that, and she has never shown even an ounce of aggression towards anyone or anything. Now she has begun to play very rough with other dogs. It was a pretty sudden change. She will rough house with other dogs, and makes a mean sounding growl. To me, her body language suggests she is playing/happy, but I have no formal training, I am simply basing that off of my brief behaviour class and experience at the off leash park and with rescues. Her hackles do often (not always) go up during this play, but they go up all the time, when she is nervous, scared, excited, etc. Sometimes they go up when I say treat or dog park or car ride. I could probably try to upload a video of the play if that would help. I have recently started fostering puppies for a local rescue and am wondering if that may have something to do with the change? She generally has no interest in them. I also have a 6 month old standard poodle who she is quite attached to and I have noticed it tends to be dogs he is interested in that she chooses to play with. I am concerned that this might be something I should deal with now. Would this be something to change or should I leave it alone and simply pay close attention to her when she is interacting with other dogs? Any tips/opinions would be much appreciated! :)
