Hi folks, Cole here. (That’s me in back.) If you’ll remember, I had hip replacement surgery 13 long weeks ago, so just thought I’d Iet you know my recuperation is coming along nicely. I had to spend the first eight weeks in a 6 x 8 inside kennel because I had to keep quiet and couldnt do anything but go out for potty breaks. Fortunately, everyone here felt sorry for me and would come sit with me, let me put my head in their laps and give me lots of TLC. The kennel was a bit boring but it was worth it to get the extra doses of love. After eight weeks, I was fed up with the kennel, so now I get my own room in the house with this great big bed and yummy bones to keep me occupied. I still cant go out with the other dogs because I cant play yet, but I do get to have a bit of the hallway outside my room so I can see outside and check on the rest of the pack. It’s almost as if I was part of the action! Volunteers still make sure that I get lots of extra attention and cuddles (there is definitely an upside to this recuperating thing). I can go on walks of up to 10 minutes now, so Im getting out and about a bit and building up my muscles. The doc says everything looks terrific and it is amazing to have a hip that works and doesnt hurt. Three more weeks in my room before I can join the other pups and get back up on the sofa where I belong. Ive really miss that! Cant wait to get back to just being my big, goofy self, hanging out with my two- and four-footed friends here at Lilys Legacy Senior Dog Sanctuary.
