Hi guys I just wanted to share my rabbit Milos story. About three - TopicsExpress

Hi guys I just wanted to share my rabbit Milos story. About three and a half years ago my fiancé and I were thinking about adopting. We came to the conclusion to adopt a rabbit mostly due to the fact that a dog was impossible at the time and she had previous experience with bunnies. I was ok with it but immediately became interested in the bigger breeds and we just happened to google flemish giant for sale in Illinois and Milos picture came up in an ad. The owner rescued Milo from a shelter but found out his daughter was allergic. They also had at least 3 different other animals living with them which I believe was a dog, cat and maybe a hamster or mouse and the daughter ends up being allergic to the bunny. Thats just fate. It was a close drive to pick him up and he licked us the first time we saw him lol. Didnt take Milo long to win us over. He was already neutered and litter box trained which was amazing. I had no idea rabbits could be litter box trained at the time. He ended up being free range due to his late night cage antics and after bunny proofing the room he was really comfortable and happy. Just free range in the bedroom. He had some silly antics with toys, his teddy bear, mini frisbee and his favorite of running around with pillows. Ill post the YouTube link to that. Its awesome. Makes me laugh every time. Also loved jumping onto the bed at 5 am to be fed. He loved to relax or run around being a goofball. Over the years he grew on us. I know a couple times when my fiancé and I went through some hard times of being really sick or being really sad its like he would know. He would hop over and just lay there next to me and lick me or nudge me with his head. I say all this in mostly past tense because this past October Milo passed away from GI Stasis. My fiancé noticed right away he was laying down awkwardly and not eating and took him in. The first vet gave us that force fed stuff for us at home but he didnt really want any part of it so we took him in to the an exotic 24 hr animal hospital. He was there for 3 nights showing barely any improvement. We called for updates all the time visited him at least 3 times. When I visited I noticed he wasnt super happy and was cautious to even lay by me. Eventually he warmed up to me, laid by me and actually ate some lettuce. I was there for 2 hours and when I left i could see how scared he looked. The next morning we got the call that he went into cardiac arrest and if he didnt respond in a couple mins, there wouldnt be anything more they could do. It was the worst. We planned to visit him and thought we maybe could bring him home that day. Its been rough. We couldnt understand why it happened or how it happened. Vet said it was a GI Lockdown that led to the cardiac arrest. Weve been asking ourselves if he would of been better at home. Not that the vets werent doing all they could, but if he was nervous/scared the whole time there but would anything be different if he was comfortable at home with us? I dont know. Sorry it was so long guys. Milo was cremated and is at home with us. We really miss him. Instead of posting a ton of pics I made a slide show YouTube video of pics. Ill post the link. Warning it does have sad music in the background. The big guy meant everything to us. He was only 4 years old. I dont know how his life started outside of the shelter and Im not happy about him leaving us but I know we gave him a really good three years at home with a loving family. youtu.be/z4ILtiv3Ay0 youtu.be/Io7yM6_kA8M
