Hi there! Myself and 3 other Horsfordians :-) are wanting to organise a community arts project showcasing artistic talent in Horsforth, creating community colaboration through art as well as displaying and interacting with art in different environments. I will put a link to a web page or Facebook group soon. Here is a snap shop of what we initially envisioned (but this is definitely a first step - not the finished picture) ****Imagine walking along the road and to your left... children are painting on canvases, further down the road... sculptures using found objects being planned by a group of residents....A driveway lined with handmade furniture on show... a garden shed with fairy lights and a short film screening by would be movie makers. Another driveway... people writing and illustrating a story together. You turn the corner and in a shop window a stunning photograph of a leopard taking down its prey, read the label - taken by a local award winning resident, walk further and a local teen band are show casing their material, another shop window another residents art, you read the blurb - this artist uses art as a means of therapy since diagnosis of Parkinsons... another window... another story... another window... another story... A small green space, a man playing the guitar, he teaches lessons and plays weddings too. Finally, you hear giggling... a mum and dad painting with sticks and leaves, their toddler adding handfuls of sand for texture, another family happily walking home...paint smeared cheeks ... Who knew Horsforth had so many talented people? So many stories to tell? So much to give to others? So much to shout about? WE DO! Lets take a walk of ART together. This projects would be an alternative community event supporting, encouraging and enabling art within the streets and green spaces of Horsforth. A walking trail with ART stops to inspire, engage, challenge, empower, and enlighten all ages from different walks of life. This event aims to enhance the awareness of the benefits of ART, allow people to show their work and inspire others to create. We want to challenge how we access and interact with art and our community. ****** So thats a snap shot - by no means the end result :-). Does it inspire you? Do you have ideas?
