HiGH One syllable dry; a metaphor on rocks A simile-proverb-euphemism cocktail And a double-shot of rare paradoxes To get my mind afloat and head asail I get drunk on intelligence; high on wits And sniff 1st grade cliches off my wrists Seven shots of haikus with salt or lime Before I pop three bottles of limericks Four cups of ballads filled to the brim And I am drunk-sure my sonnet reeks Ive had enough. Thats my classical start And I will keep at it till my literal drop Its shot after shot after bottle after glass The aftermath of which will be me on the top Here tie my wrist with this paisley neck tie Im about to show high that Im the new high A needle of prepositions seeking my vessels Push it down and relax as in blood it settles Light a joint of adjectives on a 5 dollar bill Id have rose to a height that has no petals In total honesty if you asked me frankly I have a big problem. Im a poetic junkie Three drags of verbs and Im back to normal Five caskets of conjunctions and I feel great I cant survive without it for but a single day Lest youll see how I quiver, shake and fret. Now wheres my pen and my writing pad I am about to intoxicate me crazy kind Clear the area Im about to gobble words And get so high I lyrically lose my mind I get drunk off smarts; high on rhymes I get wasted by these thoughts and lines Keep Smiling
