Hiked 4 1/2 miles straight up a mountain to get to an old plane crash site. The good news is I can still hike up a mountain climb over dead fall get across creeks & over some nasty terrain. The better news I can hike back down with out needed a medic!! Whew.... I wonder how far I could go if I were in shape!! At 8,250 ft above sea level the air seems pretty thin! Northwest Flight 115 originated at Chicago and was heading for Seattle with vertical visibility at 10,500 feet. This was the last radio contact with the flight. On November 7, 1950 at approximately 08:15 the aircraft had struck the eastern slope of a ridge about 30 feet below its crest, at an altitude of about 8,250 feet MSL. All 22 aboard perished.
