His Holiness Patriarch Aphrem II Visits His Holiness Catholicose Aram I in Antelias On Saturday 28 June 2014, His Holiness Patriarch Mor Ignatius Aphrem II visited His Holiness Catholicose Aram I, Armenian Orthodox Catholicose of the Great House of Cilicia in Antelias. His Holiness was accompanied by their Eminences the archbishops: Mor Theophilus George Saliba Archbishop of Mount Lebanon and Tripoli and General Secretary of the Holy Synod, Mor Selwanos Boutros Al-Nehmeh Archbishop of Homs, Hama and Environs, Mor Clemis Daniel Kourieh Archbishop of Beirut, Mor Dionysius Jean Kawak Director of the Patriarchal Office in Damascus, Mor Chrysostomos Mikhael Shemoun Director of the Patriarchal Benevolent Institutions in Atchaneh and Mor Timotheos Matta Al-Khoury Patriarchal Secretary along with some monks. His Holiness Catholicose Aram received His Holiness Patriarch Aphrem II and the accompanying delegation at the entrance of the patriarchal residence. They then entered the chapel where they prayed for the rest of the souls of the martyrs and for peace in the Middle East and all over the world. They then moved to the Hall of the Catholicate where His Holiness Catholicose Aram spoke of the great work that is waiting His Holiness Patriarch Aphrem II on the levels of ecumenical relations, regional causes and local pastoral care especially with the cooperation of the family of the Oriental Orthodox Churches. His Holiness in turn thanked His Holiness Catholicose Aram for his brotherly love and looked forward for more cooperation between the two sister churches in all areas. He also confirmed that history is a witness that we have a common destiny and common suffering. Patriarch Aphrem II offered a blessing cross and an English copy of the “Chronography of Mor Mikhael the Great” to the Catholicose who offered his guest a pectoral icon of the Virgin Mary. The guests of the Catholicose were invited for lunch at the Catholicate.
