Honeybunches daily communication sheet from today says: I know - TopicsExpress

Honeybunches daily communication sheet from today says: I know there is no way around it, but (Honeybunches) realized since he was leaving early he didnt have to worry about earning his afternoon incentive. Therefore, when I finished his brushing around 11:10, he refused to go outside saying it was too cold. I reminded him not following the schedule would also affect Friday Reward. He gets a star on his car incentive for doing the brushing, but now it seems he is also trying to use it to avoid social times. Depending on when he gets to school, there may not be time to get into Mrs. Fs for recess. I want to keep doing the brushing, but I am not sure when I can do it and not disrupt his routine. Well keep working on it. He also knows that Friday is a half day, so Friday reward doesnt happen. I guess we wont make any changes just yet. Im glad he is so aware of his incentives as in the long run it is a good thing. The DDS lady emailed me too, with a bit more info about the in-home program she was talking about earlier when she called. Her email said The intent of this program is to increase the families ability to support the student at home and in the community. The program aims to prevent residential placement through the hire of a “skills trainer” that would work closely with your family on skills such as communication or the focus of the family at that time. I thought that your family might be a good candidate for this program. If accepted, DDS would allocate money annually to help fund many things such as the “skills trainer. Open interest forms are available to be submitted but this must happen before January 30, 2015. She also mentioned how she is waiting to hear about the status of funding for respite and social activities. I emailed her back telling her I am interested. I talked with DH about it before giving her an answer, because sometimes he does not like people from agencies coming to our house. This time, he said it was up to me. With the previous programs we tried (Intensive Care Coordination, Therapeutic Mentor, Family Partner, In Home Behavioral Therapy) I learned NOTHING new. They all told me I should work get a job in their fields, because I have a lot to teach other parents. Even the behaviorist did not come up with anything new we have not tried with Honeybunches. Hopefully this will be different. It sounds different. IMO its worth a try. As my post earlier (That Facebook only showed to 71 people) states, the program also would provide Honeybunches with 3-6 hours per week of Behavioral/Skills based trainings that may include working on his ability to carry out ADLs. enhance his ability to communicate and decrease certain behaviors.
