Honor Flight is recruiting World War II and Korean War veterans to participate in an RV trip to visit the nation’s capital, and organizers are especially hoping to find female veterans to participate. “Maybe one-half of a percent or only one percent of our veterans who go on the trips are women,” said Dian Holland, a volunteer with Honor Flight Dayton, which covers Clark County and is organizing the August RV road trip. “I’ve been going on the trips for six years now and I’ve probably only had six or so woman veterans that whole time,” she added. Honor Flight serves all veterans, but the group is especially looking for lady WWII and Korean veterans who would like to participate in the trip. “Many of them feel they are not qualified, as they were not involved in active combat during their tours of duty,” Holland said. “If you were in the military during those (wars), you are completely eligible to go — it doesn’t matter if you went overseas or not.”
