Reassure the patient that this is a normal adverse effect Rifampin (Rifadin) may cause body fluids to become red or orange. Urine, tears, sweat, sputum, and feces can all be affected. This is a benign side effect. Calling the physician is unnecessary, as this is an expected adverse reaction that is harmless. Administering a vitamin K injection is not indicated, there are no signs of bleeding. A patient should never discontinue tuberculosis medications without consulting a physician.
