Hossein Nuri was was left without the use of his arms or legs - TopicsExpress

Hossein Nuri was was left without the use of his arms or legs after he was tortured and imprisoned for a political satire he wrote in Iran in his 20s. He continued his painting, holding a brush in his mouth, and is now one of Irans most acclaimed artists, with more than 100 exhibitions in Iran, France, China, Germany, Algeria and Lebanon. The award-winning artist, documentary filmmaker and playwright was compelled to create this heart-wrenching short video after the violent attacks in Paris - speaking out against violence as an expression of protest. His son Mahmoud, also a filmmaker, asked Everyone Matters to share his fathers video. He explains that his father welcomes a diversity of ideas and opinions: Mankinds achievements are obtained by the process of confrontation of opposite ideas, he quotes his father as saying, but whenever this confrontation is expressed by violent means, the outcome would be grotesque. So finally he doesnt wish a world without confrontation of ideas, but one in which such confrontations are non-violent.
