House Republicans are ready to fire the opening salvo in the war over President Barack Obama’s executive actions on immigration. House leadership - McCarthy! -plans to move as early as next week - simultaneous to the 24-state court legal challenge against Obamas executive action - on legislation to override Obama’s actions that could protect millions of undocumented immigrants from deportations. That move is likely to be paired with spending for the Department of Homeland Security, which got only short-term funding from an agreement in December. They cannot prevail if Obama stands firm and vetoes a DHS funding bill with such anti-immigrant amendments. The Reps will try to blame him for unfunding the DHS is he does - a mini-government-shutdown that Reps are bound to lose IF Obama calls their bluff. The question is, will he?
