How The Liberal Media Is Strangling Democracy Frank Camp Thomas Jefferson said: “Experience hath shown, that even under the best forms of government those entrusted with power have, in time, and by slow operations, perverted it into tyranny.” Power is not what it used to be. In an ideal situation, government power would be clearly linked to approval. Those who had approval of their constituents would be the ones who would wield power, and those who didn’t have approval would have no say in the matter. The American people would have a real say in what their elected officials went about doing. But now government power is so separated from the public that anyone—even someone deeply disliked—can hold on to power. Why? According to Breitbart: “A new Gallup poll has found that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) has the lowest net approval rating among those in the House and Senate leadership.” Harry “Pants on fire” Reid is the most disliked member of House and Senate leadership. Considering that Reid is not among any sort of elite (Boehner, Pelosi), this finding is even more of a kick in the teeth. But none of that matters. Harry Reid still wields a surprising amount of power. How can a man who is so disliked by the American people be so influential? The answer is the media. Ever since the rise of the Liberal-dominated media, the balance of power has shifted to Liberals. This is due to the media’s almost stalker-like love affair with the Democratic Party. The media and the Democrats are bedfellows because their agendas are identical; they share the same values (for the sake of clarity, let’s redefine values as ideals, because we all know Democrats have no morals). With this collusion, the approval of the American people no longer carries any weight. The media will manipulate the stupid voters into doing what they want, which is to vote Democrat. This means that Democrats—no matter how deranged or inept—can do and say whatever they want with no fear of approval dips. The media is the puppet master to the majority of Americans. Without a system of voters judging politicians on actual policy and values (again, remember how we’re defining values), there is no point in elections. The smart voters will make up an informed, but middling cross-section, while those under the control of the media will sweep up the rest. The media bias isn’t just a social problem; it’s a systemic problem that is affecting our entire democracy in a very real way. If it continues like this, we all might as well take a nap on Election Day, because our votes won’t matter. Lest you think I’m overreacting, just remember: Harry Reid is still in office with the lowest Congressional approval rating of any leader.
