How should one raise a child? Should we buy them expensive gifts - TopicsExpress

How should one raise a child? Should we buy them expensive gifts with them not doing anything in return for them? We are living in an age of entitlements. Were children grow up thinking if you dont buy them material things you dont love them. What ever happen to chores and responsible spending? In these days I see parents competing for who can buy the best gift for their children. I see these children lash out at their parents, back talk them, stomp their feet, and just totally disregard everything they say to them. A good parent will discipline their children and make them earn things. It might be hard but it is necessary in order to make them obedient. The world thinks if you spank a child your a bad parent. The world is disobedient and the world is evil. Dont let the world teach your children people. Obedience involves recognition of authority. If you do not present yourselves as the author of discipline in your household, than they dont obey. You can not buy love, I repeat you can not buy love. Teach your children to fear the Lord. Do not discipline children with wrath, rather do it with love. Do not install hate or wrath in them. Do what the bible requires and you will not go wrong. Children obey your father and mother for it is a commandment from God. God bless. Ephesians 6:1-9King James Version (KJV) 6 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right.2 Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise;3 That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.4 And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.5 Servants, be obedient to them that are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in singleness of your heart, as unto Christ;6 Not with eyeservice, as menpleasers; but as the servants of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart;7 With good will doing service, as to the Lord, and not to men:8 Knowing that whatsoever good thing any man doeth, the same shall he receive of the Lord, whether he be bond or free.9 And, ye masters, do the same things unto them, forbearing threatening: knowing that your Master also is in heaven; neither is there respect of persons with him.
