Hurricane Iselle did some damage on Maui. Pam and I had to leave - TopicsExpress

Hurricane Iselle did some damage on Maui. Pam and I had to leave the immediate Kula neighborhood to get to where the wind affected areas were located. Seems almost asleep with an ear and an eye open were not needed as the shadow of Haleakala along with your prayers and well wishes were a perfect block to all the furry going on around other parts of the Island? Some of these Eucalyptus and Jackoranda trees are over 100 years old. This is the Ulapalakula Ranch area south on the Kula Highway next to the Winery upcountry Maui on the counter clockwise route to Hana. The road is blocked by a series of fallen trees that look like match sticks stacked a half mile past the speed bump. They will be at least a couple days cleaning the trees up. Those who live down beyond where we were forced to stop, will have to make the trek around the other way through Hana. Hopefully it is passable as there could be like damage in the other direction. While Pam and I were there wind gusts in the upper 30s were occurring. This area gets lots of wind but these were major gusts that took these trees down guessing above 70 MPH.
