I’m doing a lot better. My knee is still badly swollen and painful and unstable but it’s able to support my weight – and, considering my weight, that’s a considerable achievement for ANY knee. Saw the incisions for the first time when they changed the dressing the other day. It’s ugly; it looks like I lost a knife fight with a midget. It’s hard to believe, but the nurse who shaved the surgical site actually nicked me with a safety razor. Now I know why they anesthetize you before they shave you: Because stuff like that can really undermine your confidence in your surgical team; sort of like having a doctor whose office plants have all died.
