I AM JAMAICA! When I say that I was Jamaican though I was born in - TopicsExpress

I AM JAMAICA! When I say that I was Jamaican though I was born in the states, I mean I acknowledge that the Jamaican flag is my history. I acknowledge the black skin of my forefathers, the green land from which my forefathers came, and the sun that shined on such a land to cultivate its identity and agriculture. I acknowledge its history is my identity, while I may be here as a result of oppression, I am now a model of independence, no longer dependent upon my oppressor, I acknowledge the potential and ability that is within me. And like the motto of our island says, “Out of Many, One People”, while I pride myself on the black roots from which I stand, I also acknowledge the diversity of other ethnicities running through my veins. I also acknowledge the failings of our island are the failures of us all, yet we are not condemned by it. And it is on the strength of this, I say I am Jamaican, I am Jamaica!
