I DRANK GARRI, AND I PRAYED FOR TOMORROW! Life was simple and people were happy and contented. Leaders were fairly honest and good governance was a great virtue. People had food on their tables. If they had none, they would drink garri and go to sleep knowing that tomorrow was going to be better. People had good jobs and constant pay. People had good clothes on their backs. Schools were functional, hospitals were equipped, roads and infrastructure were strongly built and lasted. Those days are gone. These days, most people have nothing to eat while just very few people have everything to eat. There are no jobs, schools have no quality anymore. Roads and infrastructure are built today and they fail the next day. Most people are unemployed except for the super connected. This morning I had a reminiscence. I flashed back to garri days. I symbolically drank garri today praying that tomorrow will be better for our people. I prayed that God should give us better leaders and better lives. I prayed that we should only drink garri just for the heck of it. I prayed that good food and good lives shouldnt be an exclusive preserve of only the very privileged and often fraudulent ones. Will it really? God help our people.
