I REFUSE TO BELIEVE THIS! (Time to give up?) Nyan and his collaborators have been running experiments trying to answer this terrifying question: Do facts matter? The answer, basically, is no. When people are misinformed, giving them facts to correct those errors only makes them cling to their beliefs more tenaciously. Ugh.This simply reinstates what Ive come to experience on a daily basis. My Bible doesnt say that! (Have you opened it? Yes, yes - it does.) :-( Or, could being conscious of this inherent Catch-22 actually help more rational thinking, through self awareness of our own biases? Thus, recognizing our own lack of objectivity as barrier to overcome, a puzzle to solve with each new bit of information that may run counter to our own truths...
