I WAS going to hospital today to have a teeny camera inserted into my knee. I WAS scheduled to register at 7 in the morning, have day surgery under general anaesthetic and go home mid afternoon. BUT mid afternoon only Sam King was available to collect me, and only in a big van, which isnt great when you are woozie and bandaged up. SO... I rang to see if I could be bumped down the list, (the confirmation letter said to discuss if transport or times were difficult) So I did. Nice lady said no trouble at all Ill swap you onto the afternoon list, come in at 1pm. Problem solved. SO....This morning I got up had a tiny breakfast and cuppa at 7 as per instructions, got a phone call at 9, saying, sorry, due to further cancellations, the afternoon list has dwindled to only one, and thats you. We do not leave surgery lists open for less than 2 people, so you will have to wait til next week. Now being a self employed layabout, theoretically thats not a mountainous problem. But you guys caught in the delights of the corporate whirlwind of fun for your daily bread, tell me if that isnt just going to make your HR dudes grizzle? Interested to know?
