I agree wholeheartedly that David Letterman is irreplaceable. Further, methinks many are overanalyzing Daves work, personality and overall presentation. It is what it is. Its just Dave being Dave. I have followed him since the earliest days in his career. I love the guy and his humor, watch his show every night unless hes a rerun. Thats my opportunity to check in on the competition. They all have their moments, but there is just one Dave. Period. No one will replace him. Yes, there will be a new host for his timeslot, but I doubt that guy or gal would attempt to follow Daves format, whatever that is! There will be no Paul Shaffer, no Alan Kalter . . . it will be a brand new show, just as it was when Dave opened up on CBS in 1993. We shall see. Meanwhile can you IMAGINE what a great year its gonna be for US, the viewers, as his friends and former guests scramble to get on the list to appear on Letterman on more time before the big man hangs it up! We are in for a treat every night is my guess.
