I am a realist, and idealists bore the living hell out of me. They accomplish zero. I voted for both John Anderson and Ross Perot, so I got the third party dreamer beat out of me a long, long time ago. Then, I sized things up and decided I wanted to participate in politics, not just protest vote. The evangelicals and Tea Pots have now patiently, over three or four decades - worked and worked and worked - focused - experimented - persisted - until they have finally taken over a major American party and bent it to their will and control. Does the left have that kind of sincere interest in running this country? Not that I have seen. Last presidential election, there were SIX leftist candidates for president - it is all egomania and preening and bullshit - I mean really - a Progressive AND a Green? Why, dear god?? Obama is not bad. He is a centrist. I am an independent who is more liberal than conservative. I can work with that guy. He responds - albeit slowly - to public pressure. McCain or Romney would have been totally unworkable - and no thanks to the leftists, we barely dodged a conservative take over - they OWN the House now - and almost the Senate! When the leftists are as shrewd as the supposed idiot right wing, they will take over the Democrats and force them to be more Progressive and more Green. Some smart people are already working on that, vs wasting their time, money and votes on nobody third parties.
