I am already hearing fans complaining. Our schedule is a tough one this year or we face a lot of tough teams as where ____ has it easy. Its not even preseason yet. I know the same excuses will come in post season as well. _____ went further than ____ due to the tougher schedule. -However look at how the schedule is laid out. You play each division rival twice (6/16) -Each team in your division plays every team in a chosen NFC division. As an example each north team Packers, Lions, Bears, and Vikings all play the south teams Saints, Falcons, Bucs, Panthers this season (10/16) -Your entire division then plays an entire set AFC division. Sticking with GB, Det, Chi, and Min they each play the east teams Dolphins, Patriots, Bills, Jets (14/16) With that said you play 14 of the same games your division rivals played. Where do the other two games come in? That all depends how good or bad you were last season. -For the final two games, you take the conference youre in (well stick with the NFC North). You then take the remaining two divisions you havent faced, in this case its the east and west (in the north, playing entire south). THEN, take the team that finished in the same place as you and you have your final two games. So an easy example here. Look at the Packers and Vikings. Both teams will play 16 regular season games. Each other twice (2), Bears twice (4), Lions twice (6), Saints (7), Falcons (8), Bucs (9), Panthers (10), Dolphins (11), Bills (12), Jets (13), and Patriots (14). Thats 14 of 16 games the same. Now since the Packers finished in first in the NFC North they will play the first place teams from East and West. As the Vikings play the last place teams. Vikings will play the Rams from the West while Packers play the Seahawks. From the East, Packers play the division champion Eagles while the basement battle is Vikings at the Redskins. I know its long and confusing, but once you get it youll understand that schedule is no excuse. Want an easy schedule then suck the previous year. Unfair to say Lions lost more than the Bears because they had a tougher schedule when in fact they only had two games different.
