I am convinced that one of the main reasons many churches are not fulfilling their spiritual assignment is because the Pastors are not devoted continually to prayer and ministry of the word. (emphasis on continually) What should our spiritual leaders be doing? Prayer and word. What should our congregations be doing? The work of the ministry i.e. healing the sick, visiting the widow and healing the sick, raising the dead, distributing food, clothing, and shelter to those in need... Acts 6:2-4 Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables. Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of good reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business; but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.” 7 Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.
