I am currently a hairstylist trying to find her way in this industry! I have spent the last 12 years primarily focusing on individuals with disabilities and their families as a teacher, a friend, an advocate, a mentor and a caregiver. With every family, student or individual I have worked with, each has had some level of difficulty when it comes to hair. Those difficulties could be hygienically related, sensory related or maybe they just dont like dealing with change. This can be a very challenging task for those individuals and their care providers! I have decided to take a different approach! What if families were able to have a successful hair cutting experience without the stress and anxiety of the hairdresser not knowing what to expect? What if the hairdresser was experienced in working with individuals with disabilities and was able to devise a plan, build a rapport and provide a service UNTIL the client was successful? What if all of that came for one monthly price with several opportunities for the client to practice receiving services like getting their hair washed, visiting the salon, micro trims, and hair clipper desensitization? Well if you ask me, it sounds like a great idea !!! An idea where individuals with exceptionalities can feel safe, supported and successful! A place where parents and care givers can relax and know that their child is in good hands! This is my dream...help me make it a reality and be a part of something innovative and exciting!
