I am happy to announce being an auntie...to two gorgeous baby humming birds outside my bedroom window. They are not big enough to poke their beaks outside over the rim of the tiny nest. I watched the mother make the nest..very late in the season. In fact, very much in the middle of monsoon seasons with raging wind and rain storms. The little nest was unattended during many of the storms. I figured it was empty and it was the moms first attempt at a practice family. Today I was brave enough to bring a step ladder over...close..not too close (no camera..this is not the time or place). And figured Id see an empty nest. Not so! I spied two of the tiniest lumps of fluff in the nest...then I heard a buzz/zip! Better get outta here or Ill make mamma mad. I quickly put up a feeder of her own, so she does not have to venture far for food. Oh, let these storm babies make it please!!! I will name them Flash and Windy!
