I am not the I in the story. A friend of mine posted an account of an odd incident on her timeline. I asked her if I could share it here. Id love to get some of your reactions, so with the permission of SS, here it is: I have to relay what happened to me in the grocery store last night. I was in the produce section and people were standing around blocking the aisles. I detoured to another aisle, which was also blocked by a dad and his two teenage kids and I politely asked if I could get through. They moved aside but the dad turned to me and said, We were just trying to get our stuff done. I was startled and said Im sorry, the other aisle was blocked. He replied, Thats not my problem. I didnt say anything but just stared at him. Then he said, We werent doing anything wrong and I told him I didnt say you were doing something wrong. Then he told the kids to leave with him, which they did. After that I wandered through the produce section for a while, picking out the stuff I wanted and from behind me I heard someone say Excuse me, maam. It was the dad again. This time he profusely apologized and said he was trying to teach his kids a lesson. He said that they had been saying detrimental things about gay people and when he confronted me his kids asked why he did that. I hadnt done anything wrong. He told them. Thats the same kind of thing when you speak about gay people the way you do. They havent done anything wrong by being gay. She didnt deserve what I said to her and neither do gay people just because theyre gay. He profusely apologized about 16 times and I told him it was okay. So what do you think of the way this guy taught his kids a lesson?
