I am opposed to the trading of a prisoner of the Cuban - TopicsExpress

I am opposed to the trading of a prisoner of the Cuban dictatorship, an innocent American aid worker unjustly jailed for way too long, for three criminals who were convicted of conspiracy to commit espionage that led directly to the murder four Americans that were shot down by the Cuban government over international waters while their two civilian planes were flying for Brothers to the Rescue. While everyone is very happy that Mr. Gross unjust incarceration is finally over, no one should think that this is a victory of any kind for the United States of America. Cuba continues to be a state sponsor of terrorist governments and terrorist groups, run by a dictatorial regime that continues to oppress their citizens and ignore the premise of human rights. All this regime has done is take that country back 100 years, killed people that opposed their thinking, and separating families and loved ones forever. I understand that EVERY president since JFK has always wanted to be the one that solved the Cuba problem and that the policies of the last 50 years havent brought any major change in the dictatorial clamp that the Castro brothers have used on the people of the island. This new US policy will not bring any change in Cuba, either, as long as there are no free elections and a true democratic reform on the island. Why on Gods earth are the Americans the ones that need to change their policy? Why is the dictatorial regime in Cuba unwilling to bring positive change to their country? Why dont they want free and fair elections? Why dont their people have the ability to make a living? Why isnt our government pushing them to enact real and positive changes and to stop ignoring the most basic of human rights of their own people. BTW, all members of the media should immediately stop referring to either one of the Castro brothers as President. Neither one of them was elected to that post. By caving in to the Castro government, it gives the world the impression that the US is telling the world it is ok for dictatorial and terror-supporting regimes to take American aid workers and other citizens working overseas as hostages to be used as bargaining chips. We cannot continue to treat those rogue nations and sponsors of terrorism as equals, and we should not have normal and free trade relations with countries that do not guarantee their own citizens those inalienable rights . . . life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
