I am posting this again. It wont be up forever, trust me. Here is why: today Ive read two articles in what are usually thought of as alternative news sites, and in each there were secondary references to genocides in the balkans and Rwanda. In one case it was clear the writer was simply deeply confused about a lot of things and in the other there was an idea that suggested the writer had never read any political theory at all, zero, zilch. THere are two confusions, if thats how to describe it, that seem to be repeated in articles lately. One is to confuse all state power with western Imperialist state power. And hence conclude the solution is this new sort of hipster anarchy. Which for the record is just reactionary. The second is to assume that somehow the U.S. is ever a force for good or a solution. That somehow they havent created almost all of the conflicts in the world. Its not an exaggeration to say they have. Why is this so hard to grasp? Why? We have military bases in something like two hundre nations. We have military personnel in most african nations, and across south asia and we control NATO. Our allies are the most repressive dictatorships in the world, starting with saudi arabia. We continue to attack any government or leader not obedient. We arm both sides in most conflicts. We dont care if they are fascists. Because the goal is the securing of resources and markets for corporate investment. The goal is domination of labor and trade. It is NOT democracy or autonomy. It is the opposite of that. But still, people expect the US military to be used for good. Nothing anyone reads in the mainstream media is accurate. Almost a total zero. You do not hear that Venezuela is the most democratic country in the world. You do not hear anything good about Cuba. You do not hear the real reasons that Qadaffi was killed, nor do you ever hear the truth about the Balkans or Rwanda. Except.........on those rare occasions when it does happen. Like this.
