I am so disgusted to hear this nonsense about the very mayor of New York City disrespecting Officers Ramos and Liu by showing up 2 hours late to Ramos funeral. Then again, with all these absolutely disheartening attacks on Americas finest over the last few months, why should anyone be surprised. I have been sitting here for so long over and over repressing these absolutely gut-wrenching feelings these attacks have given me and I cannot hold them down anymore. So to Mayor Bill de Blasio, to President Obama, and to anyone else who has so ignorantly slapped your badged protectors in the face by donning shirts or signs with I cant breathe or Hands up, dont shoot take it from someone who knows first hand what it is like to almost lose someone who means the world to you because he was protecting those he doesnt even know. November 2010 my dad, an officer at Westminster police department, was eating lunch with his partner when a call came in regarding a bank robbery across the street. The two quickly responded and following a lengthy car chase and shootout, took down the robbers. However, it was not before my dad had been shot in the side. A few inches to the left and it was very possible that my father would not have come home that night. In that moment my dad was not concerned with whether the robbers were black, white, purple, or green. He was simply concerned with taking the Kevlar off seeing his family again. This is the reality of police work, this is the reality of what they go through. So consider this before making another ignorant statement about something you know nothing about. So to Officer Ramos, to Officer Liu and to every other Officer who has bravely donned the blue and laid down their life for those they dont even know, rest in peace and Gods speed.
