I beg to disagree with Smokey! James Brown acknowledged that - TopicsExpress

I beg to disagree with Smokey! James Brown acknowledged that he was influenced by Elijah Muhammad to write the song, Im black and Im proud. The Nation Of Islam was the primary promoter of the term black instead of negro as a racial identification during the 1960s. Elijah Muhammad died in 1975 and the new leader of the Islamic community Wallace Muhammed advised African Americans to stop using black as an ethnic identification. Where in the world is the country called blackland? What is the historical achievements of the people from blackland? The subtle negative connotations of the word black has creatied a negative behavior in our people. Every description in the dictionary where the term black is used is negative. Black plague, blackmail, black magic, black sheep (bad person), blacked out (loss of consciousness), blackout (loss of electrical power), black hole (object in space), a black outlook (problems), black balled (blocked from something), blacklisted (list of those blocked) etc. etc. The synonyms for black is: dark, gloomy, obscure, dusky, murky, dim, shadowy, sooty, swarthy, dirty, dingy, sad, depressing, somber, doleful, mournful, funereal, disastrous, calamitous, sinful, inhuman, fiendish, devilish, infernal, monstrous; atrocious, horrible; nefarious, treacherous, traitorous, villainous. With all these negative references to the term black we should not be surprised by our young peoples brutal and hateful treatment towards each other. Contrasting to black is all the wonderful positive descriptions that the term white means i.e. pure, purity, innocence, clean, light, bright, clear, honest, free from blemish etc. etc. No wonder the majority of people of African descent world-wide and some of the members of other ethnic group all worship and imitate the image of the Caucasian people. Subconsciously we reject black and aspire to be white. The terms black and white as ethnic identification should stop immediately. We are feeding the racial egos of Caucasians by calling them white. In a sense we are promoting Caucasian supremacy by calling them white. Calling them white, will make them subconsciously and consciously believe that they are superior to all other ethnic groups. We should stop referring to Caucasians as white people. We are feeding their racial egos whenever we use that term to identity their ethnicity. Calling them white, will make them subconsciously and consciously believe that they are superior to all other ethnic groups. We are unwittingly bolstering racism within Caucasians using that term. Additionally we should also stop referring to people of African descent as black. One term is positive and the other is negative. A negative label for people will produce negative behaviour in them. All the terms used to identify us since we were kidnapped from Africa i.e. Negras, black, n.gger, colored and negro were all terms created by Caucasians. Afro American and later African American is the only term that was created by OUR OWN PEOPLE to identify our ethnic group in America. So if we prefer to use the names given to us by Master as Smokey is saying here. You certainly have the freedom to remain the mental and spiritual slaves of the descendants of the Caucasian people who enslaved our ancestors.
