I bought I, Frankenstein (2014) for less than four bucks at work. This movie bombed at the box office, but you know what? Its really good and should have done a lot better with critics and audiences. In fact, its one of the few movies with tons of CGI that Ive really enjoyed from beginning to end. Everything is neatly-done and carefully figured-out. (Contrast this with the noisy, unwatchable mess that was Van Helsing. Movies that rely so much on CGI finally seem to be getting their act together). The actors martial arts will make you gasp, in spite of the trickery. Everyone here gives one hundred percent. So what if Aaron Eckharts monster, Adam, is a lot different from Shelleys book? Hes a perfectly good character in his own right, caught between gargoyles and demons, warring for the earth. The whole thing is a very tight, fast-moving and splendidly-done 84 minutes. You can watch it on youtube below. The same cannot be said for The Frankenstein Theory (2013), a found footage horror thriller that is mercilessly slow-moving and utterly devoid of thrills. The explanation about why the immortal monster has spent the last 200 years in Arctic regions is lame and must have provoked a lot of curses from the cast and crew, forced to shoot the whole thing in sub-zero temperatures. If youre going to buy any of these two movies, make sure you look close. Buy I, Frankenstein and shun The Frankenstein Theory, even if it does have a more horrific cover. https://youtube/watch?v=h6b7E-109Y0
