I cant tell you how mad dog poo makes me! The school route is disgusting & Mr FD has cleaned up three separate lots from outside our front gate in the last few weeks alone. This morning I was greeted to yet another pile in the kids path immediately as they stepped out the door so decided to ring the council to see if theyd come and sort it out. I didnt have any expectations but rang through a desperation of the consistent disgusting clean up that weve had to do to prevent the kids stepping in it, its not just the mess & the smell but the awareness of the dangerous disease that it carries that affects the sight. Anyway, I was informed by the council that due to cut backs they would not attend to clean up dog mess and it was to be the responsibility of the general public....no surprises there really but I was also told that should somebody drop litter, ie a coke can or crisp packet & my child should have a food allergy then they would be under obligation to attend to pick it up.....am I the only one that finds this stance absolutely crazy? Its such a problem on the streets and I find that more and more owners are walking their dogs under the cover of darkness to seemingly get away with having to pick up after themselves....unfortunately its also been confirmed that the council will not patrol under the cover of darkness. I find myself now looking at all dog walkers with an eagle eye which is such a shame because I know that there are ample dog walkers that will pick up other peoples mess in a bid to correct the problem & stop there being such a bad light. Honestly I cant understand what is wrong with people! Ive got the upmost respect for responsible dog owners & feel they quite often get a rough ride because of the irresponsible and ignorant owners that seem to be in abundance. I wondered if any if you guys have found any useful deterrents (other than returning the dog poo to its rightful owners) in combating this problem?
